| Welcome To This Weeks One Card Reflection For Week Ending July 20 2008 |
| THIS WEEKS REFLECTION IS THE TEN OF PENTACLES FROM THE RIDER WAITE SMITH TAROT DECK |
| Card Description: |
| " Family " This week we need to acknowledge our families and be thankful for the people in our lives. Sometimes it is not what we say, but what we do not say that can have an impact on each other. It is easy to take our families for granted, let's face it, we see our family members every day, we have our differences, perhaps even not like each other very much, but underneath all the differences, arguments and dysfunctions, there is love. The picture of this card shows a family appearing to be comfortable and happy, but at a closer glance, this family is divided and only acting the role of a content family unit to keep up appearances. This card is a reminder that all relationships take work, especially family relationships. A family is for sharing feelings, teaching each other, offering support and showing respect even if we don't agree with their viewpoints or methods of guiding us, because it may not feel like it, but our best interests are being looked after. Don't feel like an outsider in your own family, share your feelings, talk to each other, if something is bothering you, do the right thing and talk to each other and most importantly, show each other your love, support and trust. Relationships may come and go, but a family is forever. Keywords: Family,Comfort, Togetherness, Reward, Wealth, Trust. Hope this week brings love and support from family and friends. |
| " Comfort " The suit of pentacles is the element of earth and represents our material possessions as well as finances and security. Pentacles deal with the external level of consciousness. The number ten represents the ending of one cycle in order for the next phase of development to begin. In this card we see a picture of wealth and comfort (or so it appears). We see a beautiful archway richly decorated with a family crest. Through the archway is a stately home or mansion. We see a man and woman of stature (who appear to be husband and wife). They look as though they are having a conversation, however at a closer glance, the woman looks past the man and the man stares forward, not at the woman. A child clings to the woman (mother) but is looking away as if in fear. Appearances are deceiving as this family appears wealthy and comfortable, but are they happy, or just going through the motions? Outside the archway is an old man who could very well be an outcast or the matriarch of the family. He is decorated in a brightly colored cloak, he sits not with the family, but in the company of two dogs (comfort and loyalty). The old man may not be part of the festivities or perhaps is just an observer. Over this colorful scene are ten golden pentacles (coins) which interestingly enough are in the form of the kabalistic tree of life (ancient Jewish spiritual laws), This is a card of comfort, wealth and family, but it also asks us to look within ourselves for what is truly important because above all we are ruled by material comfort, when we should be guided by spirit, love and loyalty. |

| "The Past is a treasure to be cherished forever,
today is the Present that we unwrap moment by moment, the Future is the gift we create from those treasures. In the end, it is not just the gift that is important, it is the thought we put into choosing the right present that truly matters." www.renaissancemoon.com "Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." `William Jennings Bryan |
